The opening marks the official kick-off of the federal election campaign in the riding but, for Marie-Josée, it is the continuation of a constant and active presence in the riding that began with her nomination as NDP candidate, last November.
“With the support of my team I have been visiting every neighbourhood in the riding, meeting with residents to speak with them and listen to their views. I have seen and felt the growing interest and support for Tom Mulcair and the New Democratic Party. In Laval, as well as elsewhere in Québec and Canada, people are rejecting the Conservative government’s vision and policies and taking a serious and approving look at the alternatives proposed by the NDP. This election is no longer about voting against Stephen Harper, it is about voting for Tom Mulcair and the NDP,” she says.
This opening will be an opportunity for riding residents to meet Marie-Josée and her team, whose ranks continue to grow as the campaign begins in earnest. “We keep receiving offers to volunteer daily, it is marvelous,” she says. She is looking forward to meeting the citizens of Marc-Aurèle-Fortin. She urges them also to meet with her team to voice their views and even to volunteer. The coming campaign will the longest on record, she says, adding that she will need and welcome any help, material or financial, that citizens are willing to give.
The public is invited to arrive anytime after 6:45. Those on hand may even get the opportunity to rub shoulders with a surprise guest. See you there!
